MICRO-INTERNSHIPS

What Is a Micro-Internship?

Micro-internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are posted by employers across industries. Unlike traditional internships, micro-internships:

  • Are posted on a rolling basis and can take place year-round
  • Typically range from 10 to 40 total hours of work
  • Are typically due between one week and one month after kick-off

Micro-internships are facilitated via the Parker Dewey platform, which handles all of the administration and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Current students and alumni, including those who are undocumented, are able to participate in micro-internships. You do not need to have DACA or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to apply for micro-internships. All micro-internships are structured as independent contract work, which means successful applicants are hired by Parker Dewey as independent contractors.

Micro-internships through Parker Dewey are only available to U.S. citizens or international students with approved Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), or other work authorization. If you are a current F-1/J1 international student, you will need to confirm your eligibility to work before you are able to apply to projects.

You will see the pay rate for each project listed in the micro-internship posting. That is the amount you will receive upon the project’s successful completion unless there are changes to the scope. You will be paid by Parker Dewey, not by the employer, once Parker Dewey has received confirmation from the employer that the project is complete. Payments are typically processed at the end of each month.
