Job Title: Furniture Manager Intern

Part-time

Duration: 1 year

Modality: In-Person with the ability to report to the downtown Chicago office for occasional meetings and trainings.

Education requirements:

  • CCC student enrolled on a degree seeking pathway (associate degree) pursuing a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Expected graduation date is May 2026

About the role

Our Furniture Advisory Services (FAS) team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Furniture Project Manager Intern to gain hands-on experience managing the FF&E process on a prominent community development project in Chicago. This landmark project will serve as a hub for civic engagement, cultural enrichment, and community development. This internship offers an outstanding opportunity gain real-world experience in project management, procurement, and design coordination.
The Furniture Manager Intern will assist in the finalization of furniture specifications, coordination of procurement activities, and managing the installation of the furniture for the community development project. Working closely with design teams, furniture dealerships, project managers, and the installation/warehouse team, the intern will gain exposure to large-scale project planning, vendor negotiations and logistics.

As an intern, you will:

  • Coordinate furniture specifications with design teams
  • Engage in reviewing proposals and purchase orders
  • Participate in pre-installation inspections on-site
  • Engage in the coordination of installation activities, both on-site and off-site
  • Support punch tracking and completion confirmation
  • Assist with financials, such as budget tracking
  • Assist with procurement activity
  • Help with order tracking and status reports
  • Assist with providing the client with FF&E details, as required
  • Assist with progress reports and provide updates as required
  • Provide support to the furniture management team, as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Current CCC student enrolled on a degree seeking pathway
  • Expected graduation date is May 2026
  • Earn passing grades (of a C or higher) in coursework
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with peers and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
